The Michigan Gift Mart is a wholesale trade show that hosts a monthly event for purchasing agents to buy directly from wholesalers and manufacturers. Attendees must pre-register and prove they are legitimate representatives for licensed retailers. During show time, the company needs to quickly find registered participants, register new ones, and print out badges. In addition, they need to be able to add machines on the fly when things get busy.
Database Integration
The Gift Mart had an existing database program written in MS Access. During development, we read the contents of the data to check the validity of the program. After the fact, they simply moved all operations into the new system as it provided greater flexibility and allowed our team to make fast, on the fly changes to the way the interface worked. Conquent was able to make this work even with them in Michigan and our team in Oregon.
Graphic Design & Web Design
Once Conquent had completed the development of the backend tools, the Gift Mart needed us to bring their website up to date. With a limited budget for this aspect of the project, our team worked with them to create a simple template to provide a clean interface on the basic information they wanted presented.
Internet Applications
The unusual challenge with this project was printing rep badges. We have utilities to merge with MS Word, open Excel, and create printer friendly documents for other applications, but what the Gift Mart needed was a one-click, print it NOW solution to their small, specialized badge printers. Our programmers created a special application, which did exactly that, and even recorded the transaction automatically.
